What is a Timing Belt?
Your timing belt synchronizes the camshaft and the crankshaft so that the proper valves are open when they should be. This helps to ensure that the engine is getting the proper fuel and that exhaust is expelled at the proper time during the internal combustion process cycle. This part might also be referred to as the timing chain. If your timing belt is bad or if it breaks it can cause immense damage in the rest of your car and can make it impossible to drive at all. Without the timing belt, the car is going to run rough, if it runs at all.
How Often Should You Replace Your Timing Belt?
For the most part, many car makers suggest that you should replace your timing belt at 60,000 to 100,000 miles, even if you are not experiencing any issues. There are some things you can look for if you suspect that you have a bad timing belt. If you have a bad timing belt you might notice that your engine is making a ticking noise, that the engine won't turn over, that the engine misfires, or that there is oil leaking from the engine. If you notice any of these things, contact our service center to set up an appointment as soon as possible to have your timing belt inspected. If your timing belt breaks while you are driving, it can cause irreparable damage.
